The Lionhead Rabbit is a relatively new rabbit breed within the United States of America. Although this breed was already imported around 1998 it took until 2014 before the American Rabbit Breeders Association (ARBA) recognized the Lionhead Rabbit as an official domestic breed of rabbits. In contrast, the United Kingdom’s British Rabbit Council (BRC) already recognized the breed in 2002 as a “fancy breed” in many different colors and varieties. Since the breed is considered to be a fancy breed they belong to the same class as for example, Angora, Himalayan, and the Netherland dwarf rabbits.
